Our 4th Annual Benefit "Branching Out for Food Justice" was a huge success!
This past Sunday, the FoodWhat staff and youth crew served a delectable dinner to 200 community members and guests as we watched the sun set over downtown Santa Cruz. We partnered with generous local chefs and restaurants to prepare dishes made with youth-grown produce that reflected the bountiful harvest season. Friends old and new gathered at long tables under the ancient redwood trees to celebrate a year dedicated to branching out our programs and growing FoodWhat.
After stories from the Youth Crew about their experience and a powerful speech by Mayor Hilary Bryant, our community rallied around us and donated almost $37,000 through the event! This was a HUGE moment for FoodWhat!!
The sentiment that echoed loudest throughout the youth stories was, "At FoodWhat, we are a family". Last Sunday, we truly felt our community as an extension of our family. Each and every one of you makes this work possible, and we are eternally grateful for your energy and support.
Thank you for being an integral part of our community.
HUGE Thanks to: The Santa Cruz State Mission Historic Park, Bantam Restaurant, El Salchichero, The Penny Ice Creamery, Chaminade Resort & Spa, Companion Bakeshop, Alexis Party Rental, UCSC Farm & Garden, Dirty Girl Produce, Live Earth Farm, Route 1 Farms, and the Life Lab staff for making this happen with us!
