RAFFLE Benefiting FoodWhat!

Do you love surfing or just love FoodWhat?!

The Bonny Doon Community School Foundation is organizing a raffle to raise funds for art and science at Bonny Doon Elementary School and sharing the proceeds with Arts Council of Santa Cruz County: SPECTRALand Trust of Santa Cruz County and FOODWHAT!!!

When you enter to win a beautiful, world-class Wing Swallow Surfboard by Michel Junod ($950 Value), you are also raising money for FoodWhat! 

Tickets are 1 for $5, 5 for $20, or 30 for $100 and on sale until May 31st.

The drawings will be held at the Bonny Doon Art, Wine, and Brew Festival on Saturday, June 4th from 1-6 PM at The Bonny Doon Equestrian Park. 

We are very excited and grateful that the Bonny Doon Community School Foundation chose FoodWhat as one of their nonprofit partners. The funds raised will have an immediate impact - providing job training, healthy food, leadership development, and competitive salaries for teens in our Summer Job Training Program. A portion of every ticket purchased to win the Michel Junod Surfboard benefits FoodWhat, so have a ball!

Week 6 of the Spring Internship


This week at FOODWHAT?! was all about jobs... How to get a job, keep a job, and hear about the summer job at FoodWhat. Our opening game even had a silly job component... 

We started our day with an entertaining icebreaker called “Look Down, Look Up, and Do you have a job for me?”. Irene did a great job leading it because it broke our shyness as a group and left us with lots of laughter! 



After the icebreaker we moved straight into fieldwork. We spent a great deal of time piling a new mountain of compost, flipping compost, and spreading the compost into field. 





After hard physical work, we headed back indoors to Do a training about all the things we need to know to apply for a job, and then keep the job.  It was very helpful!


Then it was cooking time!  We ended our day by cooking delicious veggie pesto pasta!

Week 5 of the Spring going Strong!

Alternative SPRING BREAK here at FOODWHAT?! whaaaaa?!...

The heat didn’t stop any of us from engaging in fun, educational, and amazing activities here at the farm! We started our day with a quick icebreaker. We then headed over to the farm to harvest delicious broccoli! We came back with lots of energy to participate in a nutritional activity that Irene planned out for us: "Eat a Rainbow". The idea of the workshop is to understand that eating lots of different color fruits and vegetables is important for our health. When we eat a rainbow, we optimize our nutrition. 
We sketched the outline of a person, then filled in the body with how different color fruits and vegetables help support the health of different parts of our bodies. 

We ended the day with cooking Veggie Fried Rice with a rainbow of colors
